Is it safe to have cats around babies?

It's not dangerous at all ! Just get your cat used to the smell of all baby stuff (before the arriving),after let it sit beside you while feeding or taking care of the baby. Never chase the cat away, continue to be nice,so that no jalousie occures. I put a net over my baby's bed, and after the baby I cuddled the cat. I have never ever had any problems. And a girl-friend of mine did the same with 4 cats !

Thanks a million! Your response was very reassuring, and very informative.
